Kirill Klimov invites you to an unforgettable one-day class “Practical user stories.” If the Connextra team in 2001 knew what the spread will get with their simple tool, it might inspire them greatly. On the other hand, if they knew how often the user stories will be applied completely not in accordance with its purpose, it could greatly demotivate them. In any case, 20+ years past and user stories quite firmly stay in the arsenal of many practitioners of agile development. Let’s together level up in their use.

For whom (target audience)

This program is designed for practitioners of agile development, focusing on the product and in particular Product Backlog. First of all, it is, of course, Product Owners. It will also be very important for a variety of analysts (business and technical), and in general for all participants in the team. And, of course, to Scrum Masters, in order to be able to teach these skills to the Product Owner and the team.

Training is particularly suitable for those who:

  • has difficulty with the creation of user stories, splitting stories into smaller ones, writing acceptance criteria;
  • have no difficulties described in the item above, however, often have misunderstandings with the team.

This workshop synchronizes the understanding of user stories for all participants, to introduce a common “language” of terms, practices, and, most importantly, the goals behind the use of user stories.

The training is quite advanced. It involves previously attending a CSPO course or something similar to it. A very good choice would be attending the “ICAgile Business Value Analysis” class. You also need experience with product backlog management. As preparation for the workshop, you will need to bring examples of your stories. During the registration process, please indicate when and from whom you took such a class and describe your experience working with the product backlog.

the format of the workshop

The training course program is expanded by preliminary self-training and “homework.” This allows the most efficient use of time in the training sessions for discussions, and individual and group exercises.
This training incorporates many concepts of “training from the back of the room”, in which the participants say and do more than the instructor: short blocks of theory alternate with practice and exercises.

This course could be delivered online (2 modules, 4h for each module, and exercises in between modules) or in-person (1 full day).
