During years of work with different organizations, I’ve been using various miscellaneous trainings and workshops. Those could be very specific and focused on one small topic or building some skill or more generic. Some might be very tailored specific needs of the organization, while others will suit multiple different organizations.

Here is a list of workshops, that I’ve put together. It’s not exhaustive, just the most popular ones:

  • Practical User Stories – 1 day (in case of classroom delivery) practical workshop on improving skills with using User Stories
  • “Estimation” – overview and practice of different approaches on “estimating” and “no estimating” knowledge work, so that you could pragmatically and reliably answer the question “when you’d have this ready?”
  • User Story Mapping – teaching and facilitation practice of User Story Map (by Jeff Patton) to analyze workflow for your product and build a product roadmap from it
  • Team Kick-off – various activities to start a new team effectively
  • Building Downstream with STATIK or Upstream with modified STATIK – facilitate the process of initial (or repeated) discovery of your downstream with STATIK approach or Upstream with a similar (kind of) approach.
  • Running (facilitating) Retrospective, Service Delivery Review, Risk Review – project, milestone, sprint retrospective or SDR, Risk review facilitated by external facilitator (me)
  • Building RACI Matrix – reviewing responsibilities for your team by building RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Involved) matrix
  • Backlog Scoring Techniques – overview of various approaches for scoring (sorting, prioritizing) your Backlogs (and why you should stay away from most of them)
  • Team skills (star) Matrix – facilitating workshop to find strengths and weaknesses of your team from a skill perspective and create development plans as an output
  • Personal time management – small practical workshop with a summary of practical approaches to time management (GTD, Pomodoro technique, etc) and building your personal approach moving forward
  • Popular workshop from Management 3.0 suite: “Moving Motivators” – better understand yourself and your teammates’ motivations overall and in the context of some organizational or team changes
  • Popular workshop from Management 3.0 suite: “Delegation Poker” – learn the practice of gradual delegation as a way to improve your direct reports and others working with you
  • Running a game or simulation for your team – I’ve personally run most of the games and simulations from my popular list as well as many others (not related to Kanban) and sometimes do it not only working with organizations but just as an external service

So far, I’ve put a more detailed description of the first one. If you are interested in any of these and would like to learn more, please, get in touch with me.
